The Firefox Screencap Project
Anyone who reads this blog regularly knows that I'm a diehard Firefox enthusiast. In my opinion it's the best browser available, hands down. Why? Customization. Everyone who uses Firefox can completely customize it to their liking, using themes, extensions, and the myriad of configuration options that Firefox offers. As a result, everyone's Firefox looks different. So, I've decided to start a little project. It's officially called The Firefox Screencap Project. The aim is to get Firefox users to take a screencap of their Firefox. Here's what you do: take a screencap of your browser and submit it to me at katyggls at yahoo dot com, along with a short description of what's going on in your Firefox, including a list of the extensions you have installed, the name of the theme you're currently using, and anything else you want us to know about how you run Firefox. Include a link to your blog or webpage, and I'll post your screencap, your description and a link to your blog here at Kate's Rambling's And Wanderings.
Now, tools. There are lots of ways to take a picture of your screen, but I suggest a free little program called Gadwin PrintScreen. It's a great free screengrabbing program that I bet you'll use more than just this once. It's easy to use, too. To easily get a list of all your extensions (so you can copy and paste them into your description instead of transcribing every one), try yet another Firefox extension called ListZilla. ListZilla outputs either a plain text, vBulletin code, or HTML file that lists all installed themes or extensions. Very useful.
So, now that you have the tools, get started. Remember to submit your screencaps and descriptions to me by e-mail at katyggls at yahoo dot com. Tomorrow, I'll get the ball rolling with the first submission, my own Firefox screencap.
