Some of you may have heard of a new service called Newsvine
. Newsvine is about social news. It's a lot like digg
, but more focused on general news than tech news. Basically, the readers decide which stories get on the front page. When a lot of users "seed" an article, it gets on to the top seeds list. Newsvine is also cool because it lets you interact with the news. Are you one of those people like me who reads an article or watches the news and then yells your opinion about it to the computer/tv screen? Newsvine lets you comment and chat with other users about every article. You can even start your own column to write about the news. Newsvine will publish it for you, plus you can collect ad revenue from your column. Most of the articles on Newsvine come from the Associated Press (AP), but you can seed your own articles from anywhere on the web. Just drag the handy button into your toolbar, and when you see an article you like, click. Tag the article, comment on it, and voila, you've seeded your first article.
Currently, Newsvine is in private beta which means you have to be invited to join, but I happen to have 20 invites to give away. If Newsvine sounds like something you'd be interested in, just send me your e-mail address (you can e-mail it to me at katyggls at yahoo dot com
, or leave it in the comments) and I'll send one out to you.
