Brand New Digs
Then came the real tedious work. I spent about 6 hours transferring all my links over to the new template, adding extra link boxes to the template that I generated, and getting rid of a lot of my blog buttons. I love the little suckers, but they were really slowing down the old template from loading and I didn't want them to do the same to this one. So I kept the ones I really liked, and used text links for the rest of my links. I also made a brand new fav icon (you can only see it in Firefox, though) and a new matching button for my Friday Featured Bloggers.
I do of course have a couple of things to work out yet. If you look in the left sidebar you'll see a section labeled Categories, with a couple of links that don't point where they should. I'm just using them as placeholders. I plan on integrating categories into my blog through del.icio.us soon, but for now, that section is defunct.
The other little hitch is with my archives menu. I put my archives into a dropdown menu, and the dropdown box is wider than my sidebar by just a tad. I'll try to fix it with my limited knowledge tonight, but if any experts out there know how to fix it, please let me know!
Little hiccups not withstanding, what does everyone think of the new design?
UPDATE: I fixed the archives menu by changing my date format for my archives to "month year" (ie. January 2006) instead of "1/1/2006-1/31/2006". But here's another conundrum: when I view this page in IE, my right sidebar is way down the page, after the post content. Not that I particularly feel the need to cater to IE users, but I'll look into it just the same.
